The Siljan Ring (Siljansringen) was formed 360 million years ago, when a meteorite hit the earth with a force which took the whole earth's breath away. This event had a very marked effect on the geology and topography of the area, which now affords an exciting and varied landscape. Rättvik, situated on the shores of Siljan, is part of this landscape.
Rättvikspark's recreational area is within walking distance of Rättvik town centre. The campsite is situated in leafy surroundings alongside the winding water of River Enån, and has about 175 pitches with electricity and 31 cottages.
Our holiday village comprises 48 cottages of various sizes, 2-8 beds, shower/toilet, most of them fully-equipped, with open fireplaces.
One of Sweden's finest youth hostels, with 26 4-bedded rooms, is situated nearby.
A variety of events take place in Nöjesparken, e.g. dances, discos, well-known performers, festivals etc. We also have a children's theatre every Thursday during the summer.
The recreational area is very child-friendly. Salmon fishing, canoe hire, mini-golf etc. A kiosk, shop and fully-licensed restaurant are open during the summer. A new bowling centre is currently being built next to the campsite.
Rättvik has 2 golf courses, (one of them in Furudal), the unique Dalhalla, summer tobogganing, a very nice beach, a pier, Sweden's longest go-kart track, a bakery selling unleavened bread, slalom slopes, fantastic ski tracks, springs, styggforsen (rapids), mountain bike paths, paths for jogging and a completely new bowling centre.
A few of the events taking place in Rättvik are: Music on the shores of Siljan, from 1st to 9th July; Rättvik Folklore Week in week 30 (24th-30th July); Classic Car Week in week 31 (31st July-6th August); and two of Sweden's biggest markets in the spring and the autumn. Golf Week in week 36 (4th-10th September); mountain bike race, Mörksuggejakten 23rd July.
Last but not least - Where else should Midsummer be celebrated but in Dalarna?
